The Complete Guide to Getting Started on beehiiv
Every step required to set up your account on beehiiv.
Beehiiv is one of the top new platforms for newsletters.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about it, so I decided to go explore “the beehiiv.”
I set up my account for the first time, and here’s everything I was asked in the setup.
Step 1: Enter an email address.
Step 2: Enter your first and last name.
Step 3: Create and confirm a password.
Pretty standard stuff for creating an account on pretty much anything at this point.
Step 4: What are your intentions?
If you already have a newsletter, the following questions would be about importing your subscriber list.
I just chose “I’m considering starting a newsletter.”
Step 5: Choose a newsletter name.
Step 6: Choose a URL.
Since you can do both of these later, I’m sure these can easily be changed if you don’t like what you picked during the setup process.
Step 7: What’s your newsletter about?
This was only about half of the list of tags. What you want to write about will be on there somewhere.
Step 8: Upload a logo.
Once again, you can always upload your logo later or change it.
Step 9: Pick your colors.
You can also do this later or change them. I like how what the color will be used for is clearly labeled.
Step 10: Reminder about the plans.
Beehiiv gives you a 14-day free trial to test out all the features from all three plans - Launch, Grow, and Scale. After 14 days, you can decide whether to move to a paid plan or stay with the free one. Your subscriber count must be below 2,500 subscribers to stay on the free plan.
Step Finally!
After those ten steps, you finally arrive at your beehiiv dashboard. And then the fun really gets started.
While it feels like a lot of steps to get started, especially compared with Substack - I think the steps are helpful. On Substack, you have to go hunt some of these things down in Settings (like changing the colors), but beehiiv gives you that choice in the setup.
So there you have it!
That’s everything you need to know to get started on beehiiv.
I’m looking forward to learning more about beehiiv and letting you know what I find.
It’s from the people who were at Morning Brew. I doubt they will bring in subscriptions like the Substack network does.
Great article! Thank you!
