I appreciate all of you who have subscribed to this newsletter.
It still amazes me that we can write things people want to read.
So, as a thank you - and to hopefully continue to help you - I plan to send out one of these weekly emails with things that have helped me. Maybe they can help you too.
Laugh of the Week
Ain’t that the truth?
At least it reminds me how far I’ve come! But then I think, “Wait, won’t I think the same thing about my writing now when I look back in a year?”
Then I make that face again.
Article of the Week
reminded me how important it is to mix in a good balance of evergreen articles. Video of the Week
I am fascinated with growing a newsletter business. I’m trying to learn as much as possible from people who have grown newsletters into multi-million dollar businesses.
I watched this entire episode with Sam Parr (founder of The Hustle), Shaan Puri (founder of Milk Road), and Austin Rief (co-founder of Morning Brew).
It’s pure gold.
Quote of the Week
"Read, read, read. Read everything - trash, classics, good and bad, and see how they do it. Just like a carpenter who works as an apprentice and studies the master. Read! You'll absorb it. Then write. If it's good, you'll find out. If it's not, throw it out of the window." - William Faulkner
Happy Easter! Morning Brew is a great example. I learned about it via YouTube and wrote about it on Medium. Crazy story of building an empire from your dormroom. In an interview with Ali Abdaal he shared that he onboarded writers without paying them anything. Why? They were super grateful about the opportunity and reach of Morning Brew.
I also love your Kermit meme haha.. i feel the same, Jameson.
Thanks for mentioning my evergreen tip! I definetly also have to share more evergreen posts.
Happy Easter, Kristina
